Document Discovery

The information on this website will be read across the world, which means that it will also be read by overseas doctors, who have for so long given so much to the UK National Health Service.

If any doctor who has been erased has any doubt about the fairness of the GMC’s disciplinary procedures in relation to the way in which his or her investigation and hearing was run then it is suggested that you use the Data Protection Act 1998 Subject Access Provisions and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to access all your personal data from the GMC. A simple letter to the Information Officer at the GMC stating who you are, the address you registered with at the GMC, and requesting all of your personal data will suffice.

The cost of a Subject Access Request is £10 which should be sent with your request for all your personal data.

The time for completing the request under the Data Protection Act is 42 days and time for completion of that request will only start to run from the date the GMC receives your £10.

The Freedom of Information Act should cost you the maximum of £50 for photocopying, though it is by no means certain that the GMC adheres to this cap on costs. The GMC will inform you of the costs, if any, before sending that data.

The time for completing the request under the Freedom of Information Act is 20 days.

If you have any doubts do not delay but send your requests with £10 to:
